In order to maintain your good health, as well as looking after the usual coughs, colds, flu, sore throats/ears, pains and aches, we offer the following services:                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Remember: Not all consultations need end with a prescription.

Ante Natal Care    

We provide Combined Ante Natal care for you during your pregnancy in association with the hospital of your choice.  This includes 5/6 visits before the birth of your baby, a 2 week baby check and a check up with you and your baby at 6 weeks after the birth.  This service is to deal with issues relating to your pregnancy and birth of your baby. This service is free to you and is funded by the HSE.

School Booster Vaccinations

These are normally provided in school by the HSE, however, should your child miss it for whatever reason, he or she may receive  the booster at our clinic with a letter from the HSE.

Cervical Smears

Sólás Medical Centre is registered with Cervical Check and all 5 clinical team members are registered and experienced smear takers.  See www.cervicalcheck.ie. This service is free to all women aged 25 - 60.

Well Person Screening

Prevention is better than cure.  With this in mind we have a special interest in providing health screening for men and women.  We invite you to look at your family history, your own health history and lifestyle.  A clinical examination and blood test combined, checks for high blood pressure, diabetes, lung diseases, heart disease.

Driving Licence Examinations

This is done in accordance with RSA guidelines, www.rsa.ie.

Vaccinations (Influenza and Pneumonia)

Sólás Medical Centre participates in the Annual Influenza Vaccine Programme recommended by the HSE. (www.hse.ie) and also the Pneumococcal Pneumonia Vaccine. The HSE provides the vaccine free of charge for patients in an ‘at risk group’ and all persons over 65 years of age.  Patients who have medical cards  receive the vaccine and its administration free.  Private patients who are in an ‘at risk group’ and those who are aged 65 and over, receive the vaccine free but will be required to pay an administration fee.  

Influenza vaccine is administered yearly.  The pneumonia vaccine is administered once to persons aged 65 and over.

Childhood Immunisations

Our Practice Nurses provide baby vaccinations in accordance with The National Immunisation Guidelines at 2, 4, 6, 12 & 13 months of age.  These vaccinations are important in keeping your baby healthy and in preventing serious illness.  See www.hse.ie

 

Sexual Health & STI Screening

Our doctors have completed STI courses and provide full screening for sexually transmitted infections followed by treatment and counselling.

Memory Testing

If you are concerned that your memory is not as good as it used to be, our Practice Nurses Katy or Joanne will conduct a MMSE test for you.This takes about 20 minutes and results are available at the end of your consultation.

Phlebotomy

We provide a blood test clinic each morning Monday - Friday 8.30 am to 10.30 am. Blood tests are facilitated following a Doctor consultation only.  Most results are available within 7 working days. At the point of service our Practice Nurse will advise you when to phone for the results. It is your responsibility to ensure you receive the result.

 

Cryotherapy Clinic

Cryotherapy is a treatment that facilitates removal of warts, sun damaged spots, skin tags.  An initial consultation is required with the doctor and any follow up treatments can be provided by the nurse.

Family Planning advice including Mirena Coil

Our clinical team has expertise in all areas of family planning and Dr Clare Heraty and Dr Fanchea Feely fit the Mirena Coil.
